Name: Amateru Okai
Age: 28.
Weight: 193
Height: 6’1.
Hair: Dark Brown.
Eyes: Sage green.
Armor: Blessed robes, don’t offer any actual protection, they just look flashy. He carries three small mirrors on his person, and when engaged in combat, they each grow to the size of a dinner plate, and orbit tightly around one another. This pattern is charged with divine power, and with the right timing, may be used to block some attacks as a shield.
Weapon: Amateru uses a combination of usual weapons, and a few exotic ones. He carries a Hand-and-a-half sword (bastard sword) on his back, and has trained to fight with it with one hand. Additionally, he is trained in both Zui Quan (Drunken Boxing), and Capoeira (break-dance fighting). These martial art styles may be blended together and used in conjunction with his other weapons. His less common armaments are a string of prayer beads worn around his neck, and a metal flute he carries with him. Upon entering a fight, the prayer beads may be unwound and are bonded together by bonds of divine power that are near impossible to sever. At maximum length, the beads form a whip that is 35feet in length. The flute may be charged with divine energy, focusing the power into a sword blade, resembling a katana from one end of the instrument. Amateru commonly uses this while wielding the Bastard Sword in his other hand. Finally, he carries a large drinking gourd and a brush with him. The gourd is enchanted, and that it is constantly re-filling itself with ink. He uses this for his Divine Brush abilities, and the brush to manifest the powers. The brush and pot are enchanted, and are as durable as most metals, though made of natural materials. Also, the hilt of his bastard sword has a tassel woven so it may be used as a brush, and the flute had grooves carved into one end, so it may act as a poor substitute. All of these implements are enchanted, and automatically draw ink from its container, without needing to be dipped in it.
Special Abilities: Amateru’s primary ability is the “Divine Brush” technique. Using his brush, he can channel holy power into his strokes, to produce a variety of effects. These strokes allow moderate control over water, fire, lightning, ice, and wind. He may also work plant life, creating vines, and causing trees to sprout up temporarily. A stroke he made in his youth, and a personal favorite, is the "Cherry Bomb" design. This creates a bomb the size of a beach ball that explodes in a burst of rapid firework bursts and confetti. Each time he uses these techniques though, it drains his inkpot. While the pot can never be completely empty, different strokes require different amounts of ink to power them. So, if he tried to cause a circle of flowers to bloom around him, or to draw a line of fire from a pre-existing source it wouldn’t be much of a hassle, but creating a burst of flame from nothing would take a considerable amount from the pot.
Finally, some of the brush techniques can be used for more utilitarian methods. One stroke may restore minor pre-existing structures to what they once were, and another may slow time for small periods (4 seconds becomes 20). His wind strokes have been worked into his locomotion, so he may twirl, and leap to move more agilely and reach greater distances than other humans.
Detail: Amateru is a bit taller than average, agile man. His physical strength lies mainly with his kicking strength and speed, along with his sword skill, which is highly esteemed.
Background: At a young age, Amateru was trained in the Shinto religion by his parents and family of priests. His family discovered he had an incredibly strong connection with the Kami they worshiped, and trained his abilities. Oddly enough, the Kami seemed to manifest some supernatural talents through the young boys writing, drawing, and calligraphy. Sadly though, this did not improve his skill with the brush, so while he may be able to call a rainstorm, it is from drawing a few simple lines. Elaborate works, are impossible for him to create. After training his talent, and following the line of Shinto practices, he grew into a young and extremely capable warrior monk, though such things aren’t really required in the Shinto practice. Friends blamed it on a case of video and fantasy fixations. While traveling, he tries to bring peace to the people he meets, and aid them in their troubles. However, his main goal is to banish demons and other foul creatures that seek to harm such innocents. Trying to keep an open mind, for one can never be fully judged by outward appearances, he seeks to find more peaceable way to vanquish such foes, and deep inside, hopes that he may find some creatures that do not intend to harm peaceful mortals. Aside from his constant traveling, he enjoys napping, practicing his martial skills, and most video entertainment systems.
