The trees shuddered as the wind howled though the forest. It had been weeks since the last rain and a storm was rapidly approaching. The clouds opened slightly to reveal a glorious silver moon. For the moment the glade was illuminated to reveal a peaceful glade filled with shrubs and flowers. The animals scurried around to find a safe place to hide for the duration of the storm. As time progressed the clouds hid the moon again and the glade was blanketed in darkness once more. *Crack* A bolt of lightning streaked across the sky as rain began to come down in sheets across the wood. The ground began to shake; however, this was not caused by the storm….
A man dove though the bushes surrounding the glade. He was dressed in dark robes and wore a long black cloak. On his right hip shown a glorious dirk and on his left was a beautiful rapier. Heart racing he ran frantically though the glade jumping over rocks and brambles. One of the rocks gave way and he slipped in fell slamming his knee against a nearby boulder. He turned around to see if his pursuers had caught up to him. As he looked a group of three men astride Nightmares jumped into the clearing. They were tenacious black stallions with a fire mane and fire hooves. Their eyes burned the color of molten lead. They snorted and a jet of flame and smoke blew out of their nostrils. Their masters were wearing a type of leather armor that he had only scene once before. It was the garb of a demonic cult that had been tracking his movements for quite some time.
“Damn, they caught me!” He cursed.
He quickly got to his feet and began to sprint though the wood again dodging every branch, tree, and any other obstacle that may spring up in his path. He quickly made his way to a stream where he spent a moment to rest. He removed a canteen from the depths of his robes and began to fill the container with water. In the distance he heard the sound of the Nightmare’s thundering hooves. He quickly stopped up the canteen and began to run helter-skelter down it. He had to reach the nearest outpost or town quickly if he wanted to survive.
For several hours he kept up this rigorous pace until he came upon a little town. Fortunately, the guards did not question him when he entered and he began to venture up the road. On either side of him were small shops and stands. At the end of the road was a lit tavern bustling with noise. He ventured towards it hoping to find a cozy place to stay. It had been months since he has had the luxury of a warm bed. He stepped though the entryway and found a large room filled with people. In the back stood a small fat man with a crooked nose. Placing a few coins on the counter he asks the man if there is a place he can rest. The man tells him that he may spend the night and is welcome to use the bar. He walked over to the corner where he found a small table and a few chairs. He sat in the chair against the wall so he could watch the door and make sure nobody attempts to ambush him in the tavern. Calling over a barmaid he asks for ale and begins to study the room….

Artemis sat alone reading a thick book and sipping from her beverage (Hot tea-nothing alcoholic), glancing up occasionally to see who entered the warm tavern. This wasn't exactly her typical quarters. She preferred the outdoors during this time of year, but as the thunder roared over the conversations in the noisy bar she was suddenly glad of the warm fire burning in the hearth. She closed her book after a few moments more and started gathering her things to take up to her room when she saw the tall, cloaked man enter at a brisk pace and take seat in the corner. She watched as he sat and caught the slight, silver gleam of a concealed weapon. She raised an eyebrow in surprise.Thats odd... she pondered silently, You almost never see anyone armed with anything more then hunting gear in such a peaceful town...
Artemis repositioned herself back in her seat and opened her book once more. She was suspicious of this character, as well as curious. She tucked a strand of her wavy brown hair behind her ear and tried to read, but found herself glancing up at the armed stranger ... A warrior perhaps, resting on his journey. But why does he keep glancing to the door?

Said door was gently pushed open, and Kayla entered, all sodden clothes and dripping hair-ends and with a general air of discontent at being so. Behind her strode Shadow, with his usual black hair and golden eyes. Where Kayla was soaking from the barrage of rain outside, he was merely damp- a compromise between remaining fairly inconspicious and actually having to get wet. He swept the tavern with his gaze as he followed, alighting on the cloaked man, someone in the corner, the bartender, and finally Artemis.

The cloaked man sat in the corner continuing to ponder his predicament. It had been many weeks since he had left the main capital and since then he had lost his partner and companion. Since then he had been traveling alone and had become quite accustomed to it. He enjoyed working by himself; however, in order to continue his mission he may need to seek help. As he was pondering this he watched as a young woman entered the tavern. Though she was quite young she seemed quite powerful. He watched her carefully aware of the possibility that she was apart of the Demonic Cult pursuing him. He also noticed the other woman across the room. She had been acting strange since he had entered the tavern, standing up then sitting back down again.
"Perhaps she knows who or what I am...." He thought. Worried that his cover was blown he began to look for a means of escape if things got messy. Calling over the barmaid he asked for another ale to attempt to make her think that he was just a traveler who would leave soon. He continued to sip his ale and peer over his mug at the women contemplating what to do next.

Artemis turned to see who it was at the door, and smiled as her eyes landed on Kayla. She stood and began to walk over to her, when she saw the smug figure of Shadow standing a few feet behind her. Goddamn. She groaned internally, but forced a smile as she walked over. "I'm begining to think you're stalking me Kayla." she half laughed. She glanced back over to the man in the corner... just long enough to notice that HE had noticed her.

The man continued to sip his drink and shifted his eyes towards the woman again(Kayla). He froze as he saw the woman who was reading the novel staring at him.
"They must think of me as a potential enemy" he thought. "I could probably take them; however, I would rather not take the risk. I better reveal myself as a friend in order to avoid a fight."
Acting on his decision he rose from his seat and began to make his way towards the women....

Artemis straightened as she saw the man approach. "Looks like we have company." she whispered softly. "And I'm not entirely sure I trust him." But she smiled in his direction anyways, hoping that he had only friendly motives.

"Mm?" Kayla followed the direction of Artemis' gaze, raising her eyebrows at the man approaching. "Certainly friendly, isn't he? I bet he's selling something."
Behind her, Shadow was watching impassively.

"How many merchants do you know that walk around with full sized swords tied to thier side?" Artemis sighed anxiously. "Not to mention how anxious he seems."

"...Point." Kayla said. "Well, i'm always inclined to be distrustful when approached in a bar by strange men. Let's not make this a fight; i don't want to be thrown back out into the rain quite yet."

He approached the women ready for anything. He stopped about 5 feet away from them. Removing his shroud he revealed himself. He was well groomed with a long face and deep eyes. His hair was long, however, he kept it in a small ponytail. His skin was the color of charcoal and his ears tapered to a point. He smiled revealing sharp evenly aligned teeth. With a dark but not threating tone he introduced himself.
"Greetings" he hissed. "My name is Ifntallis Willowood of the Underdark. I greet you kindly and I hope you greet me the same." He inclined his head towards one of the women.
"What may your name be ?" he asked.

"I'm Kayla," one of the women replied, "And while i don't mind, you probably want to put your cloak back on again. Not only are you freaking out the bartender, but you've been fidgiting ever since i entered the room. Possibly before. And your looks are unique enough in this human-dominated tavern to make you about as inconspicious as a- well, very conspicious, at any rate."
She paused, green eyes thoughtful. "Nice to meet you, as well," she added, as an afterthought. "Behind me's Shadow. Don't take anything he says personally."

Laughing Ifntallis says "Heh thanks, didn't think about that." He put his hood back up and glanced around at the bar. Everyone was staring at him. "Know of a place where we can talk privately? I have something I need to discuss with both of you."

Artemis nodded, though bewildered as to why this stranger was so eager to speak with them. "I've rented a room. And I'm Artemis, by the way." She flashed him a bright smile, despite her suspicions.. "Let me just get my things." She walked over and grabbed her cloak and book, then pointed the rest up the stairs. Her fingers tingled as she summoned one of her knives to her hand, keeping it concealed. Just in case. She thought, although she doubted he would do anything in such a public place.

Kayla smiled and patted the leather travelers bag at her waist, as if to demonstrate that she already had her belongings. Nonchalantly she let her hand rest on it, summoning a tiny spark of ki to convince one of the seeds entangled into the interior flap to loosen its bearings. Small bur-like projections latched onto her pinky finger; she pushed some hair behind her ear and the seed fell into her sleeve. The spark of ki was small enough as to be unnoticable, and the seed itself was akin to a grass seed, so Kayla wasn't worried about anyone having seen her palm it.
Even if i don't need it for him, i might need it later. Best to leave all options open.

*the door suddenly burts open, allowing all to hear the midpart of a song so racy, even when drink, its bad.* ......you'd be out to there And you'd go blind, yes you would. A wizard's staff has a knob on the end That looks like a silver nut If you start to bleat when he's taken your seat He'll crack it up your butt. A wizard's staff has a knob on the end And the odd frog knows it's true When your staff has a bend then the spell you send Can fly right back at you. A wizard's staff has a knob on the end Most useful if they knew it It's just that fem isn't magical to them.... ahem, arg, its a pisser out ther tonight, ain't it?" * as everyone adjusts to this apparition, they are further amazed to see this is a giant of a man, fully 7 foot tall and with arms bulging with muscles, slick with rain. to add further to the general suprise, the man has, of all things, a lampshade on his head, much like a makeshift shade hat. he gently staggers up to the bar, pockets the gourd he was carrying, and orders a rum*
