(( That's what i thought. But then i was all, oh, surely Artemis wouldn't offer Lestat coffee, because Lestat is a vampire. And unlike Edwardian vampires, those in the Vampire Chronicles can't drink or eat, or not more than very very trace amounts. The only evidence of this is that Lestat and two other vampires do take communion, one time at a funeral. And then i don't think they drink the wine, just let the little pellet of bread dissolve on their tongues. Strange, right? ))

( I didn't read before this page, but it looks like your all just talking. Perhaps you could start a meaningful roleplay worthy of a skilled marksman of modern proportions.)

(( SOMEBODY needs to tame thier ego... And anywho this isn't really a huge-epic-bloodfest-melodramatic-fighting-saving-the-world type of roleplay either. Its just our characters acting like "normal" people in a coffee shop.))
Artemis, after waiting for a few moments and recieving no reply, handed her cup over to Kayla. "Here, you can have the rest." She turned to the younger girl, almost having forgotten she was there. "So what on earth possesed you to tag along with an odd group like us, hm?"

Xue-Li looked down at her hands sheepishly. "Um...family problems?"

(( Woo, Bluewater! 100 posts, ya? ))
Kayla paused in her devouring of the coffee to cringe guiltily. "I'm very sorry about that whole incident." she said to Xue-Li. "Very, ah, terribly sorry."

((Really?...*blinks* That's...unexpected...but I still have to post a bit more before I can catch up to your 868. XD))
Xue-Li looked up, feeling awkward. Nevertheless, she shook her head fervently. "It wasn't your fault."

Artemis's eyes widened for a moment, "Nothing too serious I hope." She glanced accusingly towards Lestat.

"Xue-Li's grandmother has a very traditional view of vampires," Kayla said quietly, her eyes also flicking to Lestat. "And demons as well, i'm sure. It's not without reason, really, to distrust those species, but since Lestat is the only vampire i know I'm afraid i have a rather biased opinion."

Xue-Li's head shot up, and she looked almost indignant for a moment. She blurted out, "I think the only reason Grandmother is so..." she paused to search for the right word, "against supernatural creatures is because she's scared of them." It didn't feel right to defend her grandmother, especially when she herself had just turned on back on the elderly woman, but nevertheless...

"I said as much," Kayla pointed out mildly. "It's not without reason, to fear them. I don't begrudge your grandmother her opinion. I just don't agree with it, either."

"Well, If I was a mortal with no way of defending myself against them, I'd be rather frightened of demons and vampires as well. Better safe than sorry." Artemis stated, rather matter-of-factly. slumping down in her seat a bit and toying with the end of her scarf. "Sooo..." the pitch of her voice slid down a note or two, making obvioius her growing boredom. "What are our plans when we finish up here?

Xue-Li began to zone out as the conversation switched to a topic that had no need for her to participate in. She felt strangely awkward just sitting there, yet she felt comfortable too. All her life her grandmother and father had filled her head with dark stories about demons and vampires, morbid tales of blood and death. But now that she had actually met the real thing, Xue-Li had to admit that perhaps--for once in her life--her grandmother was wrong.
Of course, Xue-Li had always known that her family's views were prejudiced. After all, demons had occasionally massacred a few generations of Xings every few centuries or so. Xue-Li's grandmother had had her entire extended family killed. She resolved to talk with her family tomorrow about her change of heart--that is, if her family would even admit that she was one of them.
