"I sure could use the work sir" the young man said. "What can I do for you and when can I start?"

The blade glared in the light of a thunderstrike. Zeami imediately knew the threat. He suspected that whoever this was just wanted to know where he stood in this situation. However, it was possible that there were two sides fighting here, and that these three were on the side of evil. So, using all caution he drew his sword. He struck like the lightning outside, it was over before you knew it and all you really noticed was the after effect. Zeami used the flat of his blade to hit the bottom of the dagger's handle, knocking it up into the ceiling where it stuck, and doing little harm to the person holding it. "No," He said as his sword sung its sheathing song, "you won't be needing that. I mean you no harm unless you mean to harm me, or some innocent."

Artemis wrinkled her nose at the intruders brash manners. "I don't believe its exactly acceptable to barge into a strangers room, and them unarm them as they try to defend themself." She looked the newcomer over. Heres the one thing I do miss about the castle... She mused silently to herself. Being able to carry on a conversation without being jumped by random warriors or bandits.

Jumping to his feet Ify reached deep into his robes. He pulled out a six inch dirk dripping with a nightshade poison with his right hand. In his left he drew a recently sharpened rapier with the speed and presision of an eagle. Unable to react Ify threw Zeami against the wall and spat. "That is no way to treat a lady, scoundrel" Explain yourself or I shall cut you with all of the pain in my heart.
He nodded to the other people in the room.
"My apologies, I am a wanted man and I do not want any of you hurt on account of me. This could be one of the assassins I told you about.... Kayla feel free to retrieve your weapon."
Looking back at the man he growled "Answer quickly and I will do you no harm, I do not wish for bloodshed tonight however you did not enter on the kindest of circumstances"

Kayla stomped her foot, looking up at the dagger in the ceiling. "Artemis was right." she said. "That was just mean. I can't reach that; i hope you intend to get it back down." She glared at him, and then in one smooth movement slid out another knife from at her belt. "And don't try to knock this one out," she told the stranger. "I won't want to be unprotected around someone who can use a sword like that."
Behind the stranger, Shadow blinked, slowly. This guy had nearly gone right through him, straight for Kayla's knife. Such a way to sort one's priorities- and now the Shadow was at the stranger's back.

The bartender finally lowered the club. "Right now," he said. "You're the new busboy. You'll give this room a quick wipe-down at the end of each night, for room and board and a couple o' coins. If'n there's a bad fight that i can't handle, you'll break it up, too. You're plenty strong enough for that."
He paused to look to the unconscious man, then turned his eye to the group of men who'd been egging the other on and hadn't been knocked silly by the boy. "You lot," he said. "Get outta here. Take your friend home with you, you know where he lives. When he wakes up, you tell him I'll be talking to his wife if he tries to pick a fight in here again. Forth time this month, you see, and i know where he lives too."
The men went quickly, dragging the other with them. The bartender turned his attention back to the young man. "Name, age, and what you're doing 'round here. The afters you tell me you can get to work cleaning those drinks you spilled when you lot were brawling. I'll work out the details of pay later, when we close, and i won't cheat ya, so do a damn fine job of cleaning or you'll be out again. M'name's Buertling, by the by. Las' name, but you shouldn't be calling your employer by his first name anyhow."

"Ok Mr. Buertling. I am John. I'm in my early twenties, and I don't actually know why I'm here. I...am running." After all this was revealed the young man got to work cleaning. A job he was well familliar with. Actually, it might have been fate, because the first of his real strengths was about to be reavealed. A man can be strong, but the young man was about to be given a gift that would help his understanding.

(you know, i coulda sworn i made a post on here, a few in fact, and now they seem to have dissapeared. hm, i guess ill have to start back from the stairs again....) *the big barbarian silently moved up the stairs, stepping as if walking on rice paper, and his breathing was almost non-existant. as he reached the breached door, he saw that the small demon had been disarmed, and was attacking a lady. bellowing in rage, he drew his odd weapon, and charged forward to save her as best he could.*

"As I said, I only mean you harm if you would harm me. I figured disarming her was the best course. She couldn't fight if she were an enemy, and wouldn't be harmed if she were a friend. If I had wanted to hurt her..." Here Zeami paused to sidestep to his left, leaving his right leg out to trip the barbarian during his blunt and foolish onslaught. "... I easily could have. A position I did not want a potential enemy to be in. There, I have done my explaining, now it's your turn. But first, you could take afew steps back."

Kayla blinked at the appearance of the barbarian, takeing several quick steps back- until she bumped into the side of the bed- to try and get out of his way. "Ah, guys..." she said, fingering the knife in her hand nerviously. "This room is a little too small for everyone to try and move at once. I understand meeting new people can be exciting, but don't make me have to separate you. In fact..." She gave an abrupt, irritated huff. "Ify, let him go. He say's he's not going to hurt any of us, and since you said the same thing you're both on equal footing insofar as the trust factor goes. He can introduce himself if he wishes, and then this-" she waved her free hand towards the barbarian, "-guy can explain himself as well."
She shot Artemis a look as though to say, Some help here? Over by the window, Shadow had gone from startled to amused, and was leaning against the windowsill with his arms crossed as he looked on.

Artemis sighed and grabbed a hair-tie from the nightstand. She began to tie her light brown hair back in a loose ponytail (as it was getting a little hot in the small crowded room.). "I am Artemis Calthsar. " She stated and smiled, hoping that perhaps a softer tone would ease the hectic and hostile air in the room. " I come from a neighboring country. The other young lady is Kayla, the one trying to kill you is Ify, the snob in the corner with the caustic sense of humor is Shadow, and..." Her gaze slowly fell to the newcomer. "This one, I'm not sure about. But how about we find someplace larger to speak in, hm?"

Kayla beamed, relieved at the help. "Excellant advice, i should think. Of course, if we could all settle down we wouldn't have to leave, as I'm hard-pressed to think of somewhere else to go. Although if the rain would cool the raging man-tempers i'm all for standing out in it."

(( Congrats, Neith! ))
The bartender spent a moment or two critically inspecting John's work, as though staring at the young man would make all the answers he wanted come spilling out, but after a few moments he returned back behind his bar.

(I shall be applying a profile update for Frank Douglas. I expect him to be approved, so I will just continue to rp. If it's not approved for some reason, I will delete my posts.)
::The young man cleaned for a few more moments. His life had been a decent one. His brother was nowhere to be found though, and although he couldn't see his brother, he felt incredibly strong sensations of his brother being right there with him. At this point he had stopped working, and seemed to be in a daze. After a few moments the young man saw a plain white image, as his senses sharpened there was a red haird man, who oddly looked like his brother but was too holy to actually be him. The man said nothing, but he touched the shoulder of the young man, and then Frank awoke. After people started looking, they began talking about him. He looked around. People were laughing at him for his trance, and the young man was used to that, but something had changed. He had been blessed with a gift from God if you will. They all looked different. Soon they began to moan with pain, and that's when Frank noticed the people upstairs. Their lights shown through the floor, and they were powerful. This would cause them to have a headache because his mind had to take a look in theirs to make this new ability effective in sensing their location::

(sorry about not posting.... Ive been playing with linux..... another operating system like windows but its a lot more complex and you can hack in it ) Ify glanced back at the women. "Bah, I suppose so, but I swear if he does any trickery I shall cut his throat" Backing off Ify surveyed the man and shook his head. "Okay, I do agree that we should get out of here, with the brawl that went on down stairs and guys jumping though windows I do not belive this is very safe. It is also quite cramped here, do you guys have any ideas of where we should go to spend the night and discuss things? Perhaps we should go to the church, we may be able to seek sancuary there." As he finished his sentance, a strong controtion of pain spread across his face. He gripped his temple in an attempt to stop the agony.

(( Alright, so...I'm going to pull a Neith and keep posting with Shadow here. I need him to be reapproved, so if he isn't approved before my next couple of posts, I'll stop rp'ing until he is. Also, Sirify, Neith's character has just mentioned we'd all have headaches now as a reaction to the something-or-another that he did. I know you don't read those posts that don't have to do with your character, but this is one reason why you should. Also also, this is a LONG post.))
"The church- " Kayla began, and then stopped abruptly as her temple began to throb. "Hang on, " she said, and began to dig in the pouch hanging at her side for some aspiren, wincing. What a strange headache...It can't be normal, it's too sudden, no build-up. I've had my head rummaged around in enough by Shadow...So, either a reaction to a very powerful aura, somebody messing with my mind, or a spell? Whatever it is, it HURTS.
Behind them, Shadow had his eyes closed, breathing evenly, his face tight. He'd been idily scanning downstairs, looking through the eyes of other patrons in the bar, and so had seen the end of the fight and Frank's hiring. Shadow'd been distracted when the barbarian entered and the other man had jumped through the window, and by the time he could spare part of his attention for downstairs again, the young man had begun to shake. There was a sense of power trailing around the man, and Shadow had watched warily. The young man seemed to snap out of whatever daze he'd been in as the power sense disapparated, and then- a mental probe struck out, and Shadow was snapped back to his own mind. Involentarily. Ouch.
And so although Shadow rarely met those powerful enough to require a strengthening of his own mental shields, that was exactly what he was doing right now. Just in case.
* * *
Downstairs, the bartender's breath hissed out between his teeth. He clutched the edge of the bar for support, feeling as though something had ripped out his brain and then replaced it none-too-gently, and saw Frank. Frank was looking upwards, and the fact that he hadn't been affected by this...this.... whatever-it-was, and his strange behaivor before the bartender's consciousness had exploded in pain, was enough to cement his suspicions.
He tried to straighten, tried to grab the gun, just in case, because he'd seen the other things Frank could do. Ah, but he'd thought Frank was a good boy, and the fight a mistake on the drunkard's part. "You- you did this. Get out!"

::Frank looked at the bar tender, and then the headaches stopped. Frank then walked slowly to the stairs with a deep curiosity at himself, but more at the presence of people he just knew! had a lot of power compared to him. "Maybe it was a sign" Frank said to himself. "After the incedent on the plane, I have to belive in fate."
He reached the top of the stairs, but he was not very quiet at this point in his life. Infact, he was quite awkward::

The pain ceased and he looked about. The other people in the room were also doing similar things. They seemed to have been affected by the pain too. "I don't like this," Ify muttered. "We better get out of here quickly. I don't care if you guys follow me, I am going to attempt to seek sanctuary with the church." He walked towards the door and reached out towards the handle and froze........
