(( I've had a couple of people ask me how to rpg on text thread. This is going to be an example thread- I'm going to start, with the other admins/members who know how responding so as to show you newbies how to do it. *wink* Here's an explanation, and you guys can join in whenever you think you've got the basic shape of it.
Basically, this is the way the rpging works: somebody makes a thread, and introduces their character in the first one.
Ex. 'Hana was wandering through the woods. She was beginning to think she might be lost.'
Someone else posts a reply, using one of their characters. They can do anything they want, but generally walking up and blasting the other person into oblivion/trying to start a fight on your first post is frowned upon, unless it’s a battle thread.
Ex. 'A tall man with black hair and green eyes had been watching the girl for a few minutes, and as she walked closer and closer towards the tree he was standing behind, he finally decided to reveal himself. He stepped out from behind the tree. "Hey," he said, nodding politely. "My name's Thomas. Is something wrong?"
The original poster will then respond, or someone else will step in. The plot can be made up as you go along. Sometimes, especially when on quests, the original poster has a plot in mind but has to try and steer the rp in that direction, because of course the other players aren't going to react exactly like you expect them to. You can also have rpgs that don't HAVE a plot, where you just stand around and talk. If you just want to fight, then you can post in the Battle Board, the same way you would for a regular rp except whomever replies will be someone who wants to fight you back.
Also, before you rpg, MAKE SURE YOU'VE MADE A CHARACTER AND THAT HE/SHE/IT HAS BEEN APPROVED. If you're not sure how to go about making one, kindly refer to the 'Characters' board for directions. If you've still got questions after that, you can pm me or one of the other admins for help.
Also, the whole everything-in-double-parenthesis thing? That's how you enclose writing that doesn't have anything to do with the rpg. So, basically when you're talking, not your character. With that in mind, here we go. ))
Kayla wandered aimlessly among the throngs of people on the night-time sidewalks, feeling restless and sharp around the edges. She'd went to get a little shopping done, maybe get away from Shadow, something like that, but she'd ended up people-watching instead. The neon lights above her flashed green and pink, and the occasional jostle from the crowd was soothing, in its own way.
No one paid her any attention, unless they caught her watching them. Kayla was pretty enough, but her dark hair and light green eyes blended right in. She'd always found that mildly amusing, the way no one seemed to watch others around them unless they were looking for a date. They were a lot of those sort of people out tonight, too, hanging out around or in the numerous bars, but Kayla had been avoiding those. She wouldn't be adverse to a little company -in a city as big as this, she'd almost hoped to run into someone she knew.
Boy, was that pathetic.
